Aguero gives City an amazing start

Life in the English Premier League was always going to be difficult for Welsh side Swansea City but they were handed no favours with an opening weekend trip to Eastlands. Manchester City have a lot of expectations placed on them this season and many people have even tipped Roberto Mancini’s men to win the league this season. That meant there was every chance that City were going to come flying out of the blocks and it was only tremendous goalkeeping that ensured the score was 0-0 at half-time. Swansea City must have felt that worse would follow in the second half but they couldn’t have expected such an impact from the Manchester City substitute.

Dzeko grabbed the opener

The home side had already swept into the lead when Dzeko bundled the ball home but the signs were ominous when new signing Aguero appeared from the bench to finally get his Man City career started. Aguero nearly scored with his first touch but it wouldn’t be too long before he got himself on the score sheet and had the home fans singing his name. In less than ten minutes, the Argentinean had popped up at the back post to make it 2-0 and three minutes later he provided an assist for David Silva to make it 3-0.

The scoring for the evening was rounded off when Aguero got his second of the evening, stretching that lead to 4-0 and giving Swansea boss Brendan Rogers a lot to think about. Swansea will have much easier tasks than this throughout the campaign but there is a huge need to lift the players and ensure that this does not provide a morale sapping defeat for the club. There is still time in the transfer window to bring in new players but whether the Welsh club will want to spend much more money remains to be seen.

Will Nasri come along as well?

Manchester City are not a club that worries about spending too much money and of course, they are still in the hunt for Samir Nasri from Arsenal. Signing Nasri would not only provide a hammer blow to Arsenal, it would significantly strengthen the City midfield and perhaps give them an increased push in their title bid.

Man City may just have the look of title contenders about them this season although there are still some big questions to be asked about the temperament of Mancini’s side.
