Hansen on the way for glory again?

Gus Hansen is a name that deserves to be at the top of anyone’s list when it comes to poker greats but it is good to see that he is not resting on his laurels. It is also great to see Hansen coming up with the determination to take on and defeat the new wave of poker players who know they could make a name for themselves by being the player who knocks out the famous name. Life isn’t easy when you are there to be shot at and taken down but if there is anything that we know about Gus Hansen, it is the fact that he loves to face new challenges.

Day 2 and all is well for Hansen

This is why he was keen to face the challenges of the World Series of Poker Heads Up Championship and after day 2 of the event, Hansen was looking good for future success. Anything can change in an instant in a poker tournament so it is not as if there is any guarantee of success but given that Hansen has been over the course and knows what it takes to win an event or two, he will have a wealth of experience behind him as he enters the final challenges.

Hansen is already in the money

No matter what happens from here, Hansen is safe in the knowledge that he will be taken away a minimum of $138,000 from the event and he will be fancying himself to collect the WSOP Europe title. Hansen of course picked up a WSOP bracelet back in September 2010 and if he can overcome his opponent in his next three games, he will be able to add another bracelet to his collection. Not only that, he will be able to back well over $750,000 if he can come out on top in his next three match-ups, which is the sort of incentive that most players would respond well to!

Gus Hansen’s next match sees him line up against Matt Marafioti in the quarter finals. There are still some big names in the world of poker left in the final 8 so there will be no counting of chickens at this stage but all players must have some hope of coming out on top at the end of it all. After all, when you make it to the Elite Eight, you must be doing something right with your game.
